On Suspension of Classes 3 years ago

Please be informed that the suspension of online extramural class meetings will be on a per class basis -- your instructor will inform you via email (or text message/LMS announcement) should a class meeting be cancelled. This is because there are classes that agree to meet even if there is an announced suspension of classes and there are also classes that has assigned class work which may be done offline and will therefore consume a session. For your information and guidance.

    Please keep safe.

We use Filipino and/or English as media of instruction in our Extramural Classes.

    How do I enroll?

Please check the registration details at the REGISTRATION tab of uplinguistics.com.

I keep getting the 'Something Wrong Happened' error when signing up for an account. Can you help me?

Please make sure that the files you are uploading are image files (JPG/PNG) that are no larger than 2MB each. If this does not resolve the issue, please email us.

Can students from other universities join the Extramural Classes?

Yes, the Extramural Classes program is open to all Filipinos, including non-UPD students.

Is there an age requirement to be able to join your classes?

We accept students who are at least 16 years of age or in Senior High School in our regular extramural classes. If the student is below 16 years old, we recommend taking the Kids (for ages 7 to 12) and Teens (for ages 13-16) classes during the Summer (April-May) and/or Midyear (June-July) periods.

    Are the classes conducted online?

Yes, all our classes are held online via ZOOM. There are still no plans to revert to in-person classes anytime soon.

How do I request a Certificate of Completion?

For those who already received their class standing (i.e. PASS or HIGH PASS), you may request certification by logging into your ExCRS account at uplinguistics.com. The REQUEST CERTIFICATE button should appear next to your completed class under My Classes > Select Year (2022 is the default year). If you do not have a class standing yet, you will not be able to request a certificate. Please get in touch with your instructor regarding your grade.

The certifications are released within 15 business days from the date of request.

    Do you offer Spanish/German/French/Italian/Portuguese/Russian?

No, we offer Asian languages here at the UP Department of Linguistics -- Bahasa Indonesia/Malaysia, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai.

For European languages, please inquire at the Department of European Languages.

Where can I see my Reservation Code and Payment Slip?

Upon successful reservation of a slot, you may go to My Classes and choose the appropriate year (e.g. 2022) to view your Reservation Code and Payment Slip.

I am currently waitlisted, how will I know if I already have a reserved slot?

If your status changes from being WAITLISTED to RESERVED, you will automatically receive an email informing you of the change. You may also check your MY CLASSES page to view your current status -- please make sure that you have selected the correct year (e.g. 2022) in the dropdown menu.

Can a foreigner (i.e., non-Filipino citizen) join your classes?

Our Extramural Classes program is mainly offered to Filipino citizens whether in the Philippines or abroad. However, we also accept foreigners who are currently (1) residing in the Philippines, or (2) enrolled as exchange students in the University of the Philippines Diliman.

Proof of Philippine residence and/or certificate of enrollment will be required from these students.

Please note that we use Filipino and/or English as languages of instruction.

I am a Master's/Doctoral student in UP Diliman and one of the requirements in my program is language proficiency. May I request a slot in one of your classes?

Yes, please email your request letter addressed to our Department Chair to extrams.linguistics.upd@up.edu.ph. Please have it endorsed by your Program Adviser and include your preferred class and section.

I already have a background in the language. May I request to start in a higher module class?

Yes, please accomplish the self-assessment form at bit.ly/extramsplacement. If you think that you need a more advanced class other than the classes found in the form, please email extrams.linguistics.upd@up.edu.ph.

I have a question about my grade.

For grade-related inquiries, please consult your instructor. You may reach them via email. Their email address is found on your My Classes page.
